Guitar Basics

My personal method of educating beginners on reading music is through the study of sheet music. Rather than the popular method of going through studies and nursery rhymes, my student get right into the repertoire and learn by doing. This effectively skips to the fun part without sacrificing complex understanding and proficiencies.

Level 1


  • Notes on strings 1 through 4, first position
  • Dynamics (Piano and Forte)
  • Two Voices
  • Common time, and 2/4
  • Tempo
  • Quarter Notes, Half Notes, and Whole Notes
  • C major / A minor key

Level 2

 

  • Notes on strings 1 through 5, first position
  • Dynamics (Mezzo)
