Compositions

This short work for flute and guitar is a road map of the friendship between my older sister Sophia and I. The flute represents my sister, and the guitar represents me. She was born first and thus begins the piece as a solo until I come into the world and our voices begin to interact in harmony. As the piece goes on, conflict arises and is reflected in the back-and-forth nature of the aggregate. Though, as all conflict between us two, this musical conflict resolves into the cadence of love.

A Hollow space,

A Hollow, empty feeling,

And a Hollow in a deep wood.

This piece explores the many definitions/manifestations of the word "hollow."

It was inspired by the feeling that one may get while looking deep into a forest

from a clearing—imagining the shaded horrors, or mossy-green wonders, that

lurk within.
